Results from the 45th International Children’s Games
16 young athletes from the Hamilton area competed in the 45th International Children’s Games in Lanarkshire Scotland from August 3-8, 2011. Overall 1300 athletes from 33 countries and 77 cities competed in 9 sports. The Hamilton Team competed in the sports of Athletics, Soccer, and Swimming.
The Team won 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, plus achieved some personal bests.
We’ll always remember the warmth of the Lanarkshire community, their tremendous hospitality and spirit, and the many friendships we created with athletes/coaches from around the world.

Lanarkshire is to host the 45th International Children’s Games in 2011, following a joint bid by North and South Lanarkshire Councils to bring the world’s biggest youth sporting event to Scotland for the first time. Up to 1,500 competitors aged 12-15 along with coaches, administrators and delegates from around 80 cities worldwide will head to Lanarkshire for the International Olympic Committee-recognised event from 3 to 8 August.
Team Hamilton will be sending its best youth athletes in Track & Field, Swimming and Girl’s Soccer to Scotland. For more information on this year’s games please visit www.icg-lanarkshire2011.com .
